House Margarita at 777
One of the best house margaritas in Europe is at 777 in Dublin.
While I have also tried many of their unique Mexican inspired cocktails on the menu, like the Lobo Verde (Don Julio blanco tequila, Triple Sec, cilantro, jalapeno, lime juice) and the Mi Corba Mas Sexy (Don Julio blanco tequila, grapefruit, lemon, thyme), I still prefer the simplicity of the 777 House Margarita on the rocks (Don Julio blanco tequila, Triple Sec, lime juice). To be THE best, I’d like to see them replace the Triple Sec with Cointreau or Grand Marnier, but the base tequila is a step up from most restaurants and that is why 777 has the best selection of Mexican cocktails in Europe.
At 12 euros the house marg is a little on the expensive side, but if you visit on Margarita Monday’s you can get two for 14 euros. If you didn’t get enough margaritas on Monday, then come back on Taco Tuesdays and grab two taco dishes for 6 euros and use the money you saved on tacos and invest in more margaritas.
One more thing, 777 doesn’t look like a Mexican restaurant or anything at all from the exterior. The outside of 777 is painted black, has an indiscreet sign and it’s hard to see in the windows. Don’t be fooled or intimidated to walk in, because as soon as you open the door, there is a lively fiesta going on. If you don’t get there by 5:15, the tables are full, but if you are lucky you can grab a seat at the bar for drinks and food.
